On "Minions"
From The Dispatch:
The problem isn't with the Minions, though, it's with the story. There's just not that much going on here. Everything about it is a weak excuse to give the Minions something outlandish to do, but there isn't a particularly strong thread running through any of it. This is why, perhaps, the Minions are better off working as supporting characters. Their constant pratfalls and gibberish chatter can only carry them so far in a traditional narrative structure, and "Minions" the film doesn't quite seem to know what to do with them.Click here to read my full review.
