On "Star Trek Into Darkness"

There are elements to like here — a cameo appearance by Leonard Nimoy as old Spock is one of the film's brief highlights, but they only serve as a reminder of better times and better films. As much as I wanted to like it, it just felt so wrong, so lifeless, so disappointing, as if everyone involved was just going through the motions, playing "Star Trek" dress-up but ignoring the true essence of what they're trying to embody.
