On "Chronicle"

Making this a "normal" movie rather than a "found footage" movie might have alleviated some of the character problems. And while the characters' superpowers free it somewhat from the genre's typical camera limitations (allowing the camera to float and move around), the format seems like more of a hindrance, a pointless gimmick that ultimately leads nowhere.
