The DGA announced their five honorees today, and offered a few surprises along with a few usual suspects.

The nominees are:
- Woody Allen, Midnight in Paris
- David Fincher, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
- Michel Hazanavicius, The Artist
- Alexander Payne, The Descendants
- Martin Scorsese, Hugo
MIA are Steven Spielberg for
War Horse and Terrence Malick for
The Tree of Life. I would imagine one of those will replace Fincher at the Oscars, and Allen's Oscar nod isn't a lock just yet either, but the race is beginning to shape up now.
