George Takei Weds Longtime Partner Brad Altman


I don't usually post stories about celebrity marriages and things of that nature, but I felt like I had to mention this one. George Takei, Star Trek's Mr. Sulu, married his partner of 21 years, Brad Altman on Sunday in a Buddhist ceremony in California. Also present were the best man and best woman, Walter Koenig (Chekov) and Nichelle Nichols (Uhura).

As a Star Trek fan and as a human being, I wish them both a long and happy marriage, and may they live long and prosper.

I share you love for STAR TREK, in fact I am a lifelong Trekkie, and even love STAR TREK:TNG, DSN and VOYAGER. This wedding with the two Star Trek crew members as best man and maid of honor is surely a posting that is warranted. Nice job presenting it! This one has always fascinated the public.

Brad Altman is quoted today in the AP report on the Proposition 8 tragedy: "In Los Angeles, Altman said having the state recognize his marriage to Takei was 'extremely meaningful to me, but our relationship will continue and we will live long and prosper no matter what happens on the legal front.'"

I join you in wishing them all the best, regardless of the 52 percent of mean voters in California believe.
