Edward Klosinski (1943-2008)
Cinematical is reporting that Edward Klosinski, longtime cinematographer of Krzysztof Kieslowski and Andrzej Wajda, died on January 5 of lung cancer at his home in Poland.
I'm not sure how I missed this, or why it hasn't been reported more. But the death of a brilliant cinematographer isn't as likely to make headlines like the death of an Ingmar Bergman or an Michelangelo Antonioni, even in industry rags and blogs.
Klosinski was a great artist, and he will be missed.
However, Cinematical erroneously credits him for lensing the entire Kieslowski Trois Couleurs Trilogy. He only filmed White (which he also co-wrote), Slawomir Idziak and Piotr Sobocinski filmed Blue and Red, respectively.
